About the Event
Women can and do play a key role in conflict prevention, peace negotiations and peacebuilding, but too often are excluded from these efforts. In our work in situations of conflict and fragility, it is important that we ensure women participate, recognising women can be powerful agents for change. Building gender equality into reconstruction efforts can help to ensure more lasting peace. Gender equality is the number one predictor of peace, and feminist movement building is the number one predictor of policies addressing violence against women. This means that local women’s analysis and input addressing root causes of conflict and violence must be identified and amplified by those driving local peacebuilding efforts.
