The Ilitha Labantu Academy is the training and skills development arm of Ilitha Labantu, offering accredited occupational qualifications that equip learners with practical, industry-relevant skills for careers in the social services sector.

 

As a QCTO-accredited training provider, the Academy combines classroom learning, practical experience and community-centred approaches to prepare graduates to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities.

Rooted in Ilitha Labantu's more than 36 years of community development and social support work, the Academy provides learners with access to nationally recognised qualifications that respond to real social challenges while opening pathways to employment and professional growth.

Our Accredited Programmes

This qualification equips learners with the knowledge, practical skills and professional competencies required to provide counselling and psychosocial support services within communities. Learners develop skills in trauma-informed care, case management, family and relationship counselling, community-based interventions, communication, crisis intervention and ethical practice. The programme is ideal for aspiring social counselling workers, community support workers, volunteers and individuals who are passionate about supporting vulnerable people and strengthening community wellbeing.

Graduates may pursue opportunities as Social Counselling Workers, Community Support Workers, Family Support Practitioners, Victim Empowerment Practitioners, Community Development Practitioners, NGO Programme Support Personnel and Youth Support Workers.

The Social Counselling Support Worker programme provides foundational knowledge and practical skills for individuals seeking to enter the social services sector. The qualification is designed for aspiring social service practitioners, community workers, volunteers and individuals looking to build a career focused on supporting others. Graduates are equipped to work in NGOs, community-based organisations, schools, clinics, correctional facilities and other social service environments.

The Occupational Skills Programme in Conflict Management is a short, QCTO-aligned programme designed to equip participants with practical conflict resolution skills that can be applied in workplace, community and organisational settings. The programme focuses on effective communication, problem-solving, negotiation and dispute resolution, enabling learners to manage difficult conversations with confidence and facilitate constructive dialogue between individuals and groups.

Participants gain the skills needed to strengthen leadership effectiveness, improve team cohesion and address conflict in ways that promote positive relationships and productive outcomes. The programme is suitable for professionals working in people-centred environments as well as anyone seeking to develop practical conflict management competencies.
