Last month Ilitha Labantu were in Khayelitsha with CNN covering the Sibongeni Gabada case. Sibongiseni had gone missing for weeks until her decomposing body was discovered stuffed in a bag on the 29th of May 2020. The story touches on the dual pandemics that are affecting South Africa: Covid-19 and Gender Based Violence. In bringing light to the scourge of violence against women, children and vulnerable persons, we hope that these cases will be treated with a greater sense of seriousness and the urgency it requires.
